Many of the coned yarns available here at WEBS correspond to standard crochet thread sizes! Don’t let the fractions, used by our weaving customers, confuse you. Cotton and linen threads list the size first followed by the number of plies, wool fibers list the plies first followed by the size. So, when you see 3/2 cotton it is the same as #3 crochet thread and when you see 2/16 wool it is the same as #16 thread.
Here's a helpful blog post on coned yarns and what their numbers mean.
Crochet thread most commonly comes in sizes 3, 5, 8, 10, 20, 30, 40 and up, with size 10 being the most common. Size 10 is sometimes referred to as "bedspread weight," as it has historically been used for bedspreads, as well as table linens such as tablecloths, place mats, trims and doilies.
Since most of these threads are available on cones and sold by weight, you’ll get lots of yardage for those larger projects!
