Live at the Tent Sale!
Happy Birthday Kathy!

Guest: Cat Bordhi
Cat discusses her latest book, what she has coming up in a few years and what she’s working on right now.

Crochet along with Pixie:
Assembly - Decide how you’re going to join the squares. Pixie slip stitched them together because she feels sewing takes longer and slip stitch is sturdier. Pick one color and stitch the squares together with that one color.

Start with each section. If you’re doing section one, you have 12 round and two 6 round. So, you join the 2 6-round and then join that piece to the 12 round. Make sure you assemble in the order of the chart shown in the pattern to make sure your seams look right. You do have to start in the center and work out.

Once blanket is assembled, even if you’ve blocked before, block it again. Pixie recommends steaming before putting the edging on so that it is flat. Just go over it with the steamer, no need to pin it out, but do go over the front and back. If you don’t have a steamer, Pixie recommends wet blocking. Let is soak and run it through the spin cycle.

When it’s assembled, you’ll work on the edging, using a hook 2 sizes smaller than what you used to work the main blanket.  Pay attention to the corners, because you do have to do the 2dc, ch2, 2 dc to keep the corners sharp. Lightly block the edging when you’re done. If you’re interested in a different edging, all you have to do is take a look in books or online and pick something you like.

Pixie hopes you have enjoyed the crochetalong because it is a beautiful project. Everyone in the store is in love with the blanket, and we would love to see finished projects.

Pixie did some math and estimates that her blanket will be about 56” x 64”

She was completely random when deciding on color sequence. She just grabbed yarns, put them together and got some really interesting color combinations.

Pixie recommends blocking the pieces before assembling.
