This is a really beautiful wool from a defunct English mill. 2/6 nm (metric sizing) runs 1488 yards/lb. and is put up on approx. 2.2 lb. cones. By all means, weave with it for fabulous blanket and outerwear yardage and knit with it to DK or light worsted gauge: 5 sts. = 1" on #7 needles, 5 on #6. And machine knit on any machine that will give you gauge. Plan approx. 2 pounds for a long sleeved large sweater. If you haven't knitted with coned yarns before, think "no knots"! Knitters, we suggest you wash your gauge swatch in whatever you wash woolens with and check your gauge--the fabric will soften and become much loftier. It's gorgeous yarn. Weavers always wash your sample before deciding on final sett--we assume 12-15 epi.
