Bamboo yarn was introduced last year by several companies. Once considered an exotic fiber, it has definitely found its place in the mainstream. Royal Bamboo is soft, lightweight and has a beautiful sheen as some of it's obvious features. The fact that bamboo is a renewable resource, naturally non-allergenic and cool to the touch makes it just that much better.
I knitted a pullover sweater with a complex design. I used needles one size smaller than called for on label so it wasn't loosely knit. When I wore the sweater it literally stretched 6" longer over one day. It's pretty much impossible to get it back to the original size. Very pretty yarn but impossible to wear. What a disappointment.
Was this a gift?:
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I used a bright multi version of this yarn as a lace edging around a pastel yellow sweater for my granddaughter. When I washed it (in a basin with lukewarm water) the reds and blues ran and ruined the nearby yellow of the main body. I was devastated! Watch out!
