On my monitor, the yarn in coffee is not the true color. There are no warm golden tones. I love the actual dark brown ashy color a lot better, for my project it has a classier appeal. Worked 7 skeins of this yarn without encountering a single slub or knot. There was the occasional bit of straw. I worked double strands of yarn into a heavily cabled hooded car coat. The cable definition is incredible and springy, I thoroughly enjoyed working with this yarn and hated having to put it down.

Comments about Cascade Yarns Ecological Wool:
This yarn is on the chunky side of worsted and looks like it would be scratchy, but is much softer than you would think. I've knitted mitts and a cabled vest for my mom and she loves them!
I have several skeins waiting to be knit up into a big, cable sweater. Can't wait!

Comments about Cascade Yarns Ecological Wool:
This yarn knits up quick and easy. It is a bit lighter compared to most bulky yarns, but you can always make it work by adjusting needle size or pattern size. It washes nicely, hand wash of course. The biggest plus about this yarn is the yardage for the price, you can make most sweaters with 2 hanks, and that is just wonderful. The major down side to this yarn is it is corse, but it is 100% highland wool, so if you want something soft, look to another yarn.

Comments about Cascade Yarns Ecological Wool:
I just finished making a yummy hat that has a wide garter stitched band filled with short rows and is topped off with lovely bobbles. I hand knit it with size 8 needles. I used the natural color and I love it. When I made a boo-boo this yarn was very easy to pick out back through stitch by stitch.

Comments about Cascade Yarns Ecological Wool:
I love this yarn. I was looking for a natural -undyed yarn that wasn't white. I've used this yarn many times in dyed versions. Its rustic looking when knit which is a feature that I like. I find it softens considerably when washed- which I do cold water gentle in the machine dry flat because it will definately felt. I also find it knits well on a variety of needles. My prefered look is more ARAN weight on #8 needles, band indicates bulky.

Comments about Cascade Yarns Ecological Wool:
The only thing I like about this yarn is the price. Lots of yardage for the dollar. However, I would never use this yarn for any project that I intend to put against my skin. It is so ITCHY! The texture, while even, is very coarse, sheds so much, and it pills something awful. The wool used to make this yarn was clearly not processed or cleaned very thoroughly before spinning; I keep finding random pieces of dried grass (hay?) among the yarn fibers.
If your skin is sensitive or easily irritated, do not use this yarn. It's not worth the bargain.
