This yarn is a joy to knit. It has a great weight in your hand, stitch definition is fantastic for textures or cables. It washes nicely. I haven't had any splitting or knots in the skeins I've had. It's fairly pricey, but makes a fantastic gift hat/scarf. It is a lot more even in quality than other blue sky I've tried (bulky alpaca, organic cottons)

I was very unhappy with this yarn. It had many knots . Lots of times the knots came apart when I was knitting.

I'm using it for a cowl and LOVE the softness of it. A little spendy, but very pretty.

Comments about Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyes:
I used this yarn to make a beautiful scarf shown in the fall/winter 2010 Vogue knitting magazine. This yarn is the nicest yarn I've ever used. Very easy to knit with, never splits and the texture is awesome. I liked the scarf so much that I made fingerless gloves to match. The set was given to my daughter for Xmas and she has received numerous compliments, not just because of the pattern but because of the superior yarn.

Comments about Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyes:
I donate hats and only use "luxury" yarn. Depending on the purpose I always choose Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyed. I can knit a nice large winter hat with one skein. I am knitting a man's half-zip sweater in charcoal and the stitch definition is great. I wish it could be cloned without wool because I have family members who are allergic to wool.

Comments about Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyes:
I splurged on this yarn for an infinity cowl scarf-type piece. It was recommended by the pattern and I knew I wanted something very soft, since it would be worn around the neck. I love this yarn. It's indeed very soft and luxurious feeling. My only complaint is that it gets super fuzzy as you knit, and I'm sure it will just increase as I wear the finished piece. I suppose with an alpaca blend, there really isn't getting around this. Despite this, I think it's still worth using. If it wasn't so costly, I'd use it for all of my projects that required a heavy worsted!

Comments about Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyes:
Made a beanie using this yarn for an artist friend of mine. It knitted up beautifully using a simple rib pattern - a nice, soft, thick and solid hat. He lives in Maine so I think it will keep his head warm! This yarn is durable and feels like it will hand wash well and not produce fur balls (a problem I've noticed with other woolly hats and knitwear).
Would be a terrific yarn to make a heavy fisherman style sweater.

Comments about Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyes:
I made the Savannah Bow and after working with the yarn, saw how nice it knits and that there was no shedding of the alpaca. I then ordered more and am knitting a simple baby blanket which I've made before. This yarn has a nice soft feel, doesn't resemble wool yet it will be so warm.

Comments about Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyes:
Love this yarn. I don't like to make traditional gender specific clothes for babies. Blue Sky dyes absolutely gorgeous colors. Made 3 adorable little boy sweaters. In Forrest green and grey. I was a bit frustrated as the yarn "looked to be very similar in color (of course same dye lot). Halfway through second sweater, it was clear they were drastically different so I had to start over and alternate rows. Otherwise, this is beautiful yarn. Would love to make a cowl as this would feel great around my neck!

Comments about Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyes:
This is a gorgeous yarn that is a dream to knit with. It's so incredibly soft that it feels like cashmere--people don't believe me when I tell them it is 50% wool. The colors are soft and warm with just enough variation to make them beautiful and interesting. I can't say enough good things about this fabulous product (it makes a very warm and pretty pair of mittens).

Merchant response: Even when hand dyed yarns are the same dyelot, it's always good to blend the skeins in together.
