Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
Overall a great workhorse yarn. Soft enough for sweaters and durable enough for every day winter wear accessories (hats, mittens, scarves.)
The stitch definition is fantastic- cables pop, stockinette is squishy and any lace bits block out beautifully. Wears well, minimal pilling in high friction areas. The colors are great & I haven't experienced any excess dye bleed or fading.

Service and delivery comments:
The yarn I ordered was not in stock when I ordered. I was told they would forward it when it became available, which happily was in only a few days. Very pleased with the service.

Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
I ordered this because of the excellent yardage and price. I'd always wanted to try the Valley Yarns and was not disappointed. Chose a child's sweater pattern I wasn't exactly sure I was going to like so I didn't want to make a huge investment on the yarn, yet I wanted decent quality. I was not disappointed in this yarn. It knit up beautifully and was surprisingly soft even before washing.

Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
I used the yarn to knit a blanket for my almost teenaged grandaughter. It is the size of a twin bed top (blocked)using 8 balls. The pattern called for a size 10 needles (US) but I reduced the size to a 9. It was perfect. The definition of the diamond pattern which shows as a positive on one side and a negative was excellent. Good stitch definition! I was so pleased that I purchased MORE in colors I like! Since I purchased more yarn than I needed I am going to use the extra for a sweater for her. A good yarn and with the sale ....a great value

Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
Northampton is one of the yarns that I keep a "perennial stash" of: I've always got some on hand, and I use it for just about everything.
The color selection is pretty good, but I wish they would expand it. But I love the colors they do have and how many heathers there are. I love how mix-and-matchable they are.
It's really, REALLY comfortable to knit with. Mistakes are easy to fix. It frogs well. It grips the needles nicely. I can wear it around my neck without climbing the walls. Personally, I think it has a nicer texture than Cascade 220.

Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
Wanted the yarn for sweaters and was not disappointed. Beautiful rich color, could have been a bit more "heathery", but still very nice. Softer than other worsted wool yarns, but not as thick - could be bit thicker for sweaters to knit up a bit faster. Found US 7 to look better than 8. Love the yardage per skein - not skimpy! Excellent price, too. Would buy this yarn again.

Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
Using this to knit a cabled cardigan. So far is knitting up quickly. The yarn is much softer than I expected and has really nice stitch definition. It does appear to stretch a bit which is something to take into account with regards to gauge. Since it's still in process I can't comment on the durability or how it holds up, but so far so good!
