Nice, but VERY compacted
Comments about J. Knits Our Best Roving:
I was gifted a ball of this fiber from a relative that visited WEBS on a trip. I was very excited to get it as the TAMPA color was right up my alley and the fiber felt so soft. However, when I started to split it to spin, I found it to be extremely compacted, almost felted. When pulling lengthwise my husband and I could not pull a section off the end until I had pulled it quite a lot width wise to release the compaction. I ended up spending a tons of time pulling this fiber apart (predrafting extreme) because it was far too compacted to draft at the wheel. That being said, once it was finally pulled apart into a draftable state, it spun quite nicely. The colors are lovely and did not bleed much in the rinse. The final yarn is soft and buttery. It is a soft, "matte" finish yarn with no sheen (this is not a complaint, just a note about this particular fiber's tendancy). Overall, while I would definitely spin with it again if I was gifted some, I don't think I would spend money on it considering there are much nicer preps available in the same price range.
