Lofty and firm at same time--not soft for next to skin--- this is meant for heavy Outerwear vests, jackets, also superb boot socks, felts GREAT plus the colors are beautiful. Glad to see it carried here as the only LYS near me to have it, closed. Try it-- just 2 skeins for 3 prs of felted mittens.

okay

Sturdy - probably more useful for knitted items not next to the skin. Did not work well with other yarns in the Christmas stocking. Cascade 220 and Vintage.

Comments about Briggs & Little Heritage:

I order two skeins of brown heather and one of ragg. I made wool socks from the Briggs & Little Heavy Sock pattern of brown with constrasting toe, heel, and two stripes at the cuff. It is rough wool but knits very nicely and quickly. I like the color options and how it knits. I did a soak of room tempature water and a drop or two of fabric softener then laid flat to dry. Softened the right up. My two cons I checked was that it is pretty scratchy/coarse to knit with and maybe it was the way I winded my yarn but it twisted while I was knitting.

I highly recommend for heavy wool socks.

Comments about Briggs & Little Heritage:

I used this yarn to knit a pattern I really like the second time. It is a sweater jacket that has a pattern. This yarn shows the pattern well, knits up firmly so it will hold its shape. I love that it is its natural color. Without being dyed, it is very easy on hands. I look forward to wearing this when the weather turns cooler.

This knits up quickly. I made socks with this for my winter boots. Since I am still a novice knitter, the quick knit-up was confidence building. It was easy to work with and I will use it again.

I made striped mittens for felting. It knit up well, no splitting, nice texture. It's a little coarse to knit with, but the mittens look great.

I hope they still look this good after felting.

Comments about Briggs & Little Heritage:

If you're looking for a soft wool to wear next to the skin and for a garment to wear around the house, you're better off looking else where.

If you're looking for a wool that will be tough wearing and super toasty sweater for outdoor fun, this is the yarn you want.

Comments about Briggs & Little Heritage:

A very traditional worsted wool yarn, warm and consistent in weight. I'm knitting a coat with an intricate stitch and it stands out. The yarn does twist occasionally, but this is only a minor irritation. It is easy to unravel and correct mistakes if needed. It has good body and holds it shape.
