Love Louet Euroflax, but it's out of my price range for large projects. Buying 2 skeins Fibra Natura Flax = about 1 LEF and still cost less than half.
LOVED the pewter color for a linen knit skirt I wanted to try. And Pewter is gorgeous in person.
Skeins not too knotty, only 1 of 8 had any so far, but it had 3.
Went down to needle size, #4, rather than gauge #5. LEF is #3, I think.
The yarn is stiff, as is all pure linen yarn. Great drape.
The drawbacks: inconsistent strand weight, the thinnest areas are less than half the thickest; there are hanging pills and frayed strands.
The pre-washed knit fabric looks more 'rustic' than the LEF knit fabric so far, but it's not really done till washed/dried.

Overall: this is a terrific economic alternative for projects that need a lot of linen yarn. Great colors and large amounts in stock most of the time. (Bought in the fall last year.) If I cannot splurge, I'll rely on this quite happily.

I do like this yarn--the drape is nice after washing, it really gets soft. But there are knots in the skeins and I needed MUCH smaller needles than suggested (ended up using size 2 to prevent garment from being see-through). The swatch shrank by 1" after washing. All that said, it will make a lovely drapey summer tank top.

      Comments about Fibra Natura Flax:

I used this yarn for Japel's Orangina sweater. My gauge was way off and I downsized a size rather the needle, ending up in a floppy lace.

The color choices are fantastic and plenty to choose from: pale-subdued or explosion of color, your choice.

I love linen and this one is a keeper. The subtle texture leads to a great drapey hand. I did not wash swatch, I'm expecting some lint, it's linen after all.

I recommend a bamboo needle; any thing metal was too slick for me. My hands got tired fighting to keep the lace tensioned right.

I bought this yarn for making a light and airy tank for summer. Although I've only worked up about 4", it seems that it will be great.

            Good substitute for Euroflax Sport

            By Lynn from Idaho

            from Bonners Ferry, ID

            Comments about Fibra Natura Flax:

I looove linen sweaters because the fabric is soft and drapy. I adore Euroflax, but it is very expensive, particularly when you are making something long out of it and need 2500 yards! I bought this yarn to see whether it might be an acceptable substitute. The answer is absolutely. It is a bit rough on the skein, more so than the Euroflax, so it feels sort of like knitting with twine. Once you wash it, though, it is heavenly-soft. It has thick/thin areas and fat joins, but so does Euroflax. I consider that a 'linen thing' and don't mind it. It is also splitty, but again, so is Euroflax. If you like the linen feel and can't afford Euroflax, this is the product I would recommend. In fact, I'm buying more in a different color to make a tunic for a friend.

Knit up beautifully into the Sister Bay shawl pattern. Yarn is as nice as other linen yarn that costs twice as much. Dyed multiple skeins for a friend that came out beautiful. Most hanks did have one, sometimes two knots which sadly seems to be the industry standard.
