The Bird’s Eye lace used in this beret has a stretchy garter stitch foundation. The mesh pattern can be blocked to your preferred dimensions. Slouchy or closer-fitting: it’s all up to you.

Circumference at brim 16 inches /40.5 cms, diameter across top 10.5 inches/26.5 cms.
To fit head size 20-22 inches/51-56 cms.

US 4/3.5mm 16 inch circular needle
US 6/4mm 16 inch circular needle
Set of US 6/4mm dpns

Yarn:
200 yards fingering weight yarn.

Gauge:
28 sts and 40 rows= 4 inches in Twisted Garter Rib on US 4/3.5mm needles (gently blocked).
24 sts and 30 rows= 4 inches in Bird’s Eye Lace on US 6/4mm needles (gently blocked).
Although it is important to obtain correct gauge there is a lot of room for adjustment with this particular lace pattern as it has a lot of give when blocked.
