Thrummed Crochet Mittens with Marly Bird

Heard about thrumming, but not sure what it's about? This is the perfect way to learn the fun technique that adds tufts of wool to a knitted or crocheted fabric, creating a warm mitten. Students will leave this class with a comprehensive knowledge of thrumming and the start of a mitten.

Materials Required: 

  • 200 yards worsted weight yarn
  • 1 ounce unspun wool fleece (not superwash)
  • Crochet hook: Size US G, or size to obtain correct gauge
  • Stitch holders
  • Removable stitch marker 
  • Tapestry needle
  • Crocheter's Tool Kit

Make a swatch with 20 stitches in Griddle Stitch approximately 2 inches, do not finish off. We will work on this swatch in class. 
Ch 20 ( or a larger, even number), 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, *1dc in next ch, 1sc in next ch; repeat from * across.
Row 1: Ch2, *1sc in next st, 1dc in next st; repeat from * across.
Row 2: Ch1, 1sc in same st, *1dc in next st, 1sc in next st; repeat from * across
