There are many ways to explore weaving on your rigid heddle loom that allow the weaver to create texture, pattern, and open work. This class will focus on guiding you through the different techniques used to create open work fabric. We will explore finger-controlled weaving using Leno, Brook's Bouquet, Medallion, and Spanish lace techniques The hand-manipulated processes are great for adding finishing touches to all sorts of woven items. They can be applied to home decor projects such as curtains, table runners, and placements. Or, if garments are your interest, you can create a lovely summer shawl for yourself. Students will need to come prepared with a dressed loom.
Prerequisite: Must be comfortable warping the loom independently

Prior to the first class, dress your loom with Valley Yarns 3/2 Cotton at 10 epi in a ten-dent reed. The width of your warp on your loom will be 9 inches, and the total length of your warp should be 75 inches. You should end up with a total of 90 ends.
