Wendy Lewis Jane Austen Shawl PDF
This pattern is a downloadable PDF file.
A feather-weight yet warm shawl which Jane Austen herself might have worn over an empire waist gown. This shawl is much easier than it looks! It’s very relaxing and lots of fun to make. The shawl body is a simple repeat to showcase the stunning edging, which again is surprisingly easy--big bang for the buck! The drape of the yarn is the most important factor to capture this shawl’s delicate and elegant character. The original is done in alpaca/silk laceweight for an amazing fluttery drape. There are directions on how to make this shawl any size you wish.

Gauge: Gauge not important for this shawl; swatch and adjust hook size to your yarn.

Comments about Wendy Lewis Jane Austen Shawl PDF:
This shawl would have to be one of the prettiest I have ever made. The design is gorgeous, and so clever with the design at the ends. The laciness of the shawl means I can wear it as a wrap or as a scarf, and there is little weight to it. And yet as a scarf it is so warm.

This is simple to crochet but has such a big impact. Charts make the pattern easy to follow and the stitch pattern for the main body is easily memorized. The frilly ends make it work well as a scarf, too. I love mine.

This is a well written pattern with clear charts and good tips. It's easy to take along anywhere to work on, and looks good in any color, so I'm planning a couple more for gifts in different colors. Easy style to wear in scarf size or large shawl.

I loved making my JA Shawl. The pattern is easy to follow and well written. As for the result, well, the shawl is gorgeous! It's everything the designer said it would be, and then some. Definitely on my 'make again' list. ♥♥♥♥♥

Comments about Wendy Lewis Jane Austen Shawl PDF:
This pattern is perfect with this yarn--I love them both! In the pattern, there's a long starting chain, but the author gives a lot of tips on how to make it easier--I just used stitch markers and made my chains loose and it was a breeze. If you've ever made a baby blanket or afghan, you're used to the long chain anyway. I was really happy the author gave the multiples so I can custom size it as big or small as I want--I wish more patterns would give the multiples!
Once you get on row 2, you just keep repeating and it's super easy. Edging is not hard either and there's a really good chart. I used a bamboo hook so it wasn't so slippery like the metal was.
I'm now making my second one, in white, for my neice's wedding--she fell in love with the pattern too. :-)

Lovely pattern, easy and well-written. Great result, this could be lovely in both thicker and thinner yarn.
Finished it in only one week and after blocking it measures 32/140cm, perfect for a "over shoulder-wrap". I have plan for making another one!

Simple repeat is easy to memorize, making this a great travel project or tv-watching project! Directions are clear and easy to understand. I made my version out of DK weight and a 5.0mm hook, so the possibilities are truly endless! This is beautiful in a wide range of yarns. I also added beads into the edging of mine. Its on Ravelry by MerchantofVinos.

I found this shawl to be a delightful project and wonderful for showing off a special yarn. The body is simple enough to carry on conversations at the same time. The border needs a little more concentration. The pattern is very clear and well-written, and the result is a very special shawl.

Comments about Wendy Lewis Jane Austen Shawl PDF:
This shawl is to die for! It's ethereal and floaty. Most of the shawl was a really easy repeat that I could do while I watched TV. The edging isn't too much harder and the whole thing goes pretty fast. Blocked out really nice."
