Knitting Classes
Maine Mittens with Beth Brown-Reinsel
Learn to knit in two-colors while also learning about Maine mitten construction by knitting a child-sized mitten in two colors, circularly on double-pointed needles. Techniques to be covered include working with two colors in 3 different styles, yarn dominance, developing the thumb gusset by increasing in full pattern multiples, traditional motifs used in Maine mittens, and tip shaping at the end of the mitten which maintains the patterning. The focus of the class will center on reading the knitting, an important skill to develop, and anticipating which color to use in the motif. You will make one child size mitten in this class. Please be proficient with double pointed needles when joining this class.
