The Norwegian Purl, a variation of the conventional Continental purl, is noted for its superior tension control and ease of execution. The yarn always stays behind the work, making ribbing a breeze and two-color textured knitting a pleasure. Many techniques will be covered, including: proper tensioning of the yarn, the Norwegian purl, purl garter stitch, ribbing with the Norwegian purl on the right side and on the wrong side, the Scandinavian method of working with two yarns in the left hand, corrugated ribbing on the right and wrong sides of the work and so much more. It is helpful to have the ability to knit Continental–working yarn in the left hand–but it is not mandatory.
