I purchased the eggplant. The color is very very nice but darker than the version on line. The yarn was wonderful to work with and very pretty although the hairs aren't exactly what I was hoping for. On the other hand, I have purchased more of this yarn in the streaky brown with the hairs since it's a darkish color and the hairs will also help hide my dogs' and cats' hairs, hopefully. I really enjoyed working with the yarn. No knots. Very soft. Lovely drape. Not itchy and I am allergic to wool. Every time I wear the vest I made from this yarn, I get tons of effusive appreciation and everyone needs to touch it when I say it's baby alpaca. I used a pattern suitable for DK and knitted it in the size needles recommended. I knit tightly and my gauge was spot on.

I knit a baby cable pullover from this, and knit it at a firm gauge (size 2's & 3's), yet it grew a lot, and after one gentle hand wash it grew even more. The sweater is now too big. I would recommend this only for hats, scarves, etc, IOW only things where the fit won't matter, because it will definitely grow. (yes I did swatch & washed my swatch, but apparently on a larger mass of fabric it has more weight and this causes it to grow).
