Nice look and feel to this yarn but the needle splits through this yarn very easily which really slows you down. Definitely not the yarn for doing intricate cable work. Very glad the sweater I was doing was only for a baby or I would have had to give up and use something else.

Comments about Frog Tree Picoboo:

I'm using the Picoboo yarn to knit up chemo caps for myself and to donate to the hospital. This yarn is super soft so it won't cause itching on sensitive scalps. Beautiful vibrant colors. It does twist up a bit, and splits if you're not careful. Not much stretch.

    Comments about Frog Tree Picoboo:

Being a typical cotton yarn, care must be used or splitting will result. However, this yarn begs to be shown off and the colorways are really nice. I haven't gotten any further along than doing my swatch, but this particular butter yellow color has a great subdued hue. Since my entire yarn budget was spent on this May sale, it may be a while before I get out of the "swatch" routine.(sigh)

My only other comment is sometimes these gorgeous colors and fibers come in small skeins from the mfg. that ordering large number of balls seems counterproductive. I personally would like to special order a large yard count skein to complete a project in only one or two balls (winding would be much easier). I also wonder if mfgs. would give a special rate for large/medium orders? I would be willing to wait an extra day or two if such orders were possible. I consider myself a true dyed-in-the-wool knitter (grin) but sometimes winding a bizzilion skeins, I feel like I'm a died-in-the-wool knitter.

I love the feel of working with Picoboo. I have run out of some colors and can't find any replacements. My projects remain unfinished. I would recommend something small knowing I might not have enough to finish.

Used to make a summer tee with some lace work. Color lovely but knitting had to be slow because I had to watch every stitch. Difficult to capture every strand. Once a strand is pulled difficult to fix.

Great drape and nice and soft.

            Comments about Frog Tree Picoboo:

I love working with this yarn. I am allergic to wool, so it is wonderful to have choices outside of acrylic. I am making my first sweater with it. The packaging recommends size US 8 needles, but US size 5 is a much better choice. The yarn has the same consistency as very good embroidery thread. It is made up of about 12 threads that are nicely spun together. It stays compact and I am not having any issues with unraveling. I would recommend using 2 metal circular needles with rubber stoppers. The yarn is very responsive and a little slippery. So make sure to use the rubber stoppers every time you put the piece down. I love the color - I picked a dark butterscotch color.
