And After Knitting With It...

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Multiplicity:

Consider this an extension of my previous review. After attempting to knit with it, I found yet more problems that leave it unsatisfying and generally awful. For one, those thick portions are very, VERY fragile, and can't handle even the most controlled amount of tension - let alone casting on. And once you've cast on, you find another problem: splitting. The yarn fuzzes up so easily that in some cases, it's hard to see where one stitch ends and the other begins, leaving guesswork as the only option, and splitting as the only real result. I tried to give this yarn a fair chance, but to no avail. If you do decide to buy this yarn, be prepared for tears, frustration, and a lot of fuzz on your hands.

Great Colors - Disappointing Weight?

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Multiplicity:

While I'm not usually a fan of anything that's more than 15% arylic (blame the bad childhood experiences of squeaky yarn and awful plastic needles), I broke down and ordered Multiplicity for its color and its - seemingly - great yardage/price ratio for a super bulky yarn. When it arrived, I was happily surprised to find that the colors were as vivid as shown, and the yarn was quite soft. What I was not happy about was the weight. While the description in the product overview claims that the yarn is "slightly thick-thin", the reality is that the yarn is VERY thick-thin - and from what I saw, mostly thin. It's true that in the thick places, the yarn reaches a true super-bulky weight, but the majority of the time, it slips into the worsted/heavy-worsted range. And when it gets thin, it gets really thin - think DK, even sport or sock. Overall, I'd say that the color makes up for the misleading weight category - but only just barely.
