The thin black thread that runs with the wool may be a surprise, especially if you're ordering on-line. But don't let it bother you. Although the yarn is a bit splitty and a little odd to knit before you get used to it, the end result is beautiful! It's not the softest yarn ever, but soft isn't always best for socks, anyway. I'm hoping these will wear well. The socks felted slightly when they got accidentally put in the dryer --the fabric got a little fuller, but didn't hardly shrink.

This is nothing like Regia's other sock yarns. It is a loose single ply wrapped loosely with a single nylon thread. It sheds, it splits, it's rough, and looks too loose at even 9 st to the inch. The skein is so baddly wound that the whole thing falls a part at the first use. Why didn't they put these lovely effects on their normal sock yarn instead of a yarn that is not appropriate for socks?
