I used four colors of it for the multicolored stripes in a sweater for myself, plus another six or so colors in a hat. It was delightful to knit -- soft, non-splitty, non-twisty -- and it washed and dried beautifully in the machine. I washed a large swatch first before I started the sweater and was amazed that it came out of the dryer (I set it at medium but my dryer is HOT) looking exactly like it went into the washer. The same was true of the sweater when I ran it through the washer (warm wash, cool rinse, normal cycle) and dryer at the end of winter. I cannot say enough good things about this yarn.

This is the most disappointing yarn I've used in 50 years of knitting. The color was just what I wanted; knitting with the yarn was very pleasant. I completed a very complicated sweater and was excited to clean and wear it. At the very first -- very careful -- washing, the yarn pilled horribly; I have sweaters that are ten years old that aren't such a mess. I've worn the sweater one time, and it proceeded to shed all over my slacks and turtleneck. I was a mess within an hour. I won't ever wear the sweater again; I'm not sure it's is worth giving to Goodwill. Don't waste your time or money on this yarn. (I have given it one star because the system won't let me submit the review without a star...hmmmph.)

This is my new go-to for a DK weight superwash wool yarn! I love the sheen and the softness, and machine washability is great for the people I love to knit for.

Comments about Valley Yarns Valley Superwash DK:

I made a baby dress with this yarn. It was such a pleasure to knit with. It was very soft and "bouncy" and felt great in my fingers. It does split a little bit, so it may not the best choice for someone's first knitting project. Be prepared for it to GROW when you wet it. I was careful not to stretch it too much when I blocked the dress, so it turned out fine, but when I first pulled it out of the water it was huge.

I crocheted a sweater for my grandson and it turned out beautifully. This yarn is soft, works up into a good weight for a winter sweater and has beautiful stitch detail.

This yarn is working great for the sweater I am knittting. It's just the right weight. Not too bulky or too thin. The color is what I expected from the picture when I ordered it. The delivery was quick with no problems.
I plan to order this yarn in a different color for another project.

          • Baby blankets

Comments about Valley Yarns Valley Superwash DK:

This is a lovely, economical super wash merino yarn for baby blankets. I am knitting two Peek-A-Boo blankets, one large, one small. The color is very even; and makes the project practical for me as I'm on a budget but I covet really good yarn from natural fibers. Often have to forego projects because I just can't afford the recommended yarn. I used the Valley Yarn in lieu of a much more expensive brand, and am pleased with the result. The only con, for which I deducted one star, is that I found three breaks in the yarn, knotted together. I didn't think I would have to rewind the balls; I probably should have so I could have located the breaks before I discovered them mid-row.

Not the yarn suggested for this project ( Seanair from Knitty) but once I got gauge it was perfect for an indoor version. Cables showed very well, and very soft texture.
