I used four colors of it for the multicolored stripes in a sweater for myself, plus another six or so colors in a hat. It was delightful to knit -- soft, non-splitty, non-twisty -- and it washed and dried beautifully in the machine. I washed a large swatch first before I started the sweater and was amazed that it came out of the dryer (I set it at medium but my dryer is HOT) looking exactly like it went into the washer. The same was true of the sweater when I ran it through the washer (warm wash, cool rinse, normal cycle) and dryer at the end of winter. I cannot say enough good things about this yarn.

This is the most disappointing yarn I've used in 50 years of knitting. The color was just what I wanted; knitting with the yarn was very pleasant. I completed a very complicated sweater and was excited to clean and wear it. At the very first -- very careful -- washing, the yarn pilled horribly; I have sweaters that are ten years old that aren't such a mess. I've worn the sweater one time, and it proceeded to shed all over my slacks and turtleneck. I was a mess within an hour. I won't ever wear the sweater again; I'm not sure it's is worth giving to Goodwill. Don't waste your time or money on this yarn. (I have given it one star because the system won't let me submit the review without a star...hmmmph.)

Comments about Valley Yarns Valley Superwash DK:

I chose this yarn to make sweaters for 2 young children. I especially liked that it would be machine washable. I liked the feel of the yarn. Once the sweater was wet, the chest measurement grew from 28 inches to 36 inches. The sleeves and body of the sweater grew in length as well. Although it is nor recommended, I put the sweater in the dryer and it shrunk to almost the original size. I'm not sure what will happen if the sweaters are worn in the rain.

I got this yarn to make a cute little bunny for my new nephew. I was so pleased when it arrived. The yarn is super soft and knits up beautifully. I plan on purchasing this yarn for many other projects.

I made a striped garter stitch baby blanket to give to my niece as a gift and after all the work I put into it, I'm embarrassed to give it. This is the worst yarn I have ever used in my 40 years of knitting. The blanket looks about 4 years old, full of pilling and fuzziness. It is a horror. Several of the skeins also came with internal knots. Webs should not be selling this inferior quality yarn. Such a shame to have knitters use this and produce totally unprofessional looking pieces.

I knit a scarf for my grandson in his school colors. I wanted a warm yarn, yet one that was washable. I love this yarn!

Yarn arrived quickly. I like knitting with this yarn

But will probably use it for something other than the first item. I don't see very well and I have a hard time following the pattern and keep making mistakes. This pattern is a vest. Maybe do a pullover.

I have used Valley Yarn for three baby blankets and just love the feel of the yarn and how beautifully it looks when finished. My grand daughter has one of these and just loves to cuddle with it. The pattern calls for knitting double strand so it is warm as well.
