I use this for felted mittens and it is great, especially love the tweed colors. CO 28 sts on sz 10's and away you go. Beware that one ball is sometimes frighteningly close to being enough, leading to "will there be enuf yarn" anxiety, or, here's a chance to be creative.....=) For sweaters, i have knit 3, but they are IMHO outdoor jacket type sweaters, not something I'd wear indoors (and we keep our Midwest house very cold....). The little scratches against the neck are just too tickly for me. But maybe not for you. However if there is any doubt, do the neck rib in a double strand of coordinating Cascade 220 or something like that, and include that elsewhere in the garment. I give this 4 stars only because of the tight yardage, and limited use as a gift sweater yarn.

I was excited this yarn was part of the April Anniversary Sale. I love working with single ply yarn, and I've been trying to find a new love ever since Cascade yarns discontinued their soft spun and pastanza lines. Alafosslopi almost fits the bill. The colors are absolutely beautiful and it knits up quickly and smoothly. It is a little corse, but softens up when knit, and I'm sure will become even softer over time. And although corse, it is not unpleasant to work with. I did need to pull some straw from the fibers every once and awhile, but that didn't bother me. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons, and I would definitely buy this yarn again.
I used approximately 14 balls to knit a 4.5'x6' color work afghan.

Lopi yarn is very satisfying to work with. I have several cozy sweaters which I have made which I wear almost all winter instead of a winter coat. I always receive compliments on the one I am wearing. I also knit mittens with Lopi yarn. If they stretch out and get loose, they can be washed and slightly felted to be even warmer.

This is a dense wool yarn that is coarse and if knitted on 10 or smaller needles will produce a garment that you could wear to the North Pole to visit Santa in. It's not for babies, young children, or people allergic to wool. It is for people who don't particularly like cold, wet days.

Love this yarn in both weights to create children's jackets with pewter buttons in the Bavarian style created by Elizabeth Zimmerman. I knit a sweater with Lopi many years ago for my younger daughter. Recently my older daughter wanted one like it. The colors had changed and I was apprehensive about them, however they are much nicer than the original ones! I am really looking forward to knitting this for her!
