The cotton used to make Rowan Purelife is grown without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Each batch is traceable to its origins to a farm in India. It is dyed with organic plant dyes that produce no toxic effluent. On top of all this, Rowan Purelife Organic Cotton DK is an incredibly soft yarn! Made in Italy.
I've bought a lot of this and other Rowan yarn lately to make baby things for friends, and I really like this yarn except for the color inconsistency from skein to skein within the same dyelot/batch. I knitted a nice baby blanket in Oak Bark, and there was one skein that was lighter than the others and created an obvious band of color. The only other knock - and I don't even know that it's a bad thing - since it's made up of multiple smaller strands that are loosely woven, it was somewhat easy to split it while knitting. I do like the yarn, though, and the colors. I like that it's organic and naturally dyed.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
