I wove a shawl and an infinity wrap with this yarn, and was so happy with the results I am about to order more. I wove the first two items with the same yarn as weft, but then I sampled using 8/2 tencel weft and the shiny/matte contrast is gorgeous, so my next pieces will use a tencel weft. THanks to all the reviewers who helped me realize a sett of 24 would work just fine for the diamond twill I used.

The yarn was beautiful but completely inaccurate and a different, lighter tone than what is described in the picture. The yarn itself, other thasn color us as described. The problem with the color was not due to different screen colors.. it was the same on every screen I opened it on, including the customer service representative I called at WEBS... they literally got up and grabbed a few cones and confirmed all of them were much lighter than what was described in picture... (while they were pleasant about it, I still had to ask for them to do this.)
Again, the color was beautiful but not a true representation of the picture and what was described.
The yarn itself is amazing, just the wrong color.

At 24 epi, this wove up beautifully in a twill and plain weave shawl and yardage. It is easy to use and fairly soft, though I have not actually put it to my skin to test yet.

I've been using this as weft with Valley Yarns draft #80 Feathers scarf & absolutely love it. Warp is the same yarn hand dyed by The Kangaroo Dyer available at Webs. It weaves up beautifully & has a fabulous soft hand after finishing. Looking forward to using this yarn repeatedly for next to skin soft weaving projects.

I used this yarn to machine knit a dress of my own design. It was just what I was looking for, beautifully drape and easy to work with. Slippery on the machine, but that's what I expect our of alpaca and silk!

I used this to make a lacy scarf - turned out great, just like the photo in the pattern. Easily and readily blocked. It is a 2-ply yarn and it is all two easy to knit (or purl) into each of the 2 plies, thus increasing 1 stitch. It is so soft, drapes beautifully.

Comments about Valley Yarns 2/14 Alpaca Silk:

I purchased this alpaca/silk mix to knit a sweater by a Danish designer doing Japanese inspired patterns. The result is stunning!

I then wanted more to knit lace: I had never done any of that sort of work, and wanted a natural fiber that wouldn't be too fine. The result is lightweight, soft and very warm product that keeps its shape, and feels fabulous!

I have now purchased many more colors to do Fair Isle knitting. Although this yarn does have some stretch, it does not affect the final shape. On the contrary, it gives it a very pleasant bounce!
