I buy many cones of this each year for production weaving and make kitchen towels. My main complaint is that product quality is not consistent - some cones are quite slubby, on others, the thread is smooth. Also, this creates handsful of loom fluff and sheds a lot of lint in the dryer during finishing. This indicates that it is made with short fibers which are less durable over time. It is not the highest quality out there, but the price outweighs the other considerations. If I were making gifts I would use a higher quality, Swedish or other European-made cotlin.

I have been weaving tea towels with this yarn for several years now with nearly every color. The yarn is generally pretty resilient but there are several colors I have found to be be more prone to shedding and breakage- for example, I can't use the black without major repair work ahead of me.
The yarn holds its dye very well and I am pleased with the selection of colors however, that being said, the more common colors are usually backordered for months at a time. It is very frustrating when I have orders to fill and can't afford to buy 30 cones at a time.
All in all, I am happy with the yarn and plan to keep using it, but I do have to supplement with other suppliers based on availability and durability of particular colors.

Comments about Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton Linen:
This is a lovely yarn. From the reviews I read before purchasing it, all but one pointed to the fact that it would weave up beautifully, and it did. While weaving, the natural product did catch threads now and then, but not enough to make me not like it. Some shedding just meant I had to clean up after weaving; not much. It washes and dries up superbly in the washer/dryer and it is so soft and absorbent. I made hand towels for the kitchen and my husband even commented how nice they are. I'm glad I have quite a bit in different colors; I'll weave more!

Comments about Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton Linen:
Am weaving dishtowels, sett of 20. Beaming the warp broke two threads, from tangling and snagging. I had to snip a doughnut of thread shards that had wrapped around two warp threads, impeding the passage through the heddles. I caught that one in time, the two others, no. It took a long time to beam the warp.
I'm winding bobbins of one of the reds, and finding that the bobbin is made up of differing lengths of yarn that were wound on after having, apparently, broken in the winding. So my bobbins are 1/3 full, 1/4 full, before I run into an end on the bobbin that was attached to nothing. Glad this was not my warp color.

Comments about Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton Linen:
I wove tea towels from this yarn, and they came out great. There was some shrinkage after machine washing so be sure to allow for that in determinting size to make. I'll definitely be buying more of this yarn.

Comments about Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton Linen:
I am weaving on a rigid heddle loom and this was a great thread to work with. I was able to make my very first piece without any errors! I am trying to make a baby blanket out of it and only wish a that it were a little softer. I haven't washed it yet so maybe that will make it softer.

I'm weaving a kitchen curtain with this yarn (my second ever project). It is nice to work with and the finished project will be exactly what I want...a curtain that is somewhat rustic and homey for my kitchen.

Comments about Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton Linen:
I wove shadow weave dish towels with this yarn. I was surprised at how easily I could break this yarn with my hands. It seems to be made with the cheapest linen (very short staple) possible. It is also fuzzy.
After washing, the towels are nice and soft. They came out fine. I'm not sure on the shrinkage because I didn't have a close enough sett to begin with.
I will try it again, with the right sett, to see what happens.
