Pros

  • Blooms Nicely
  • Bright Coors
  • Very Fine Fingering Yarn

Cons

  • Colors Bleed Forever
  • Really Loud Colors
  • Rough Hand To Yarn

Best Uses

  • Gloves
  • Socks

I made socks with this yarn. I had to go down to 1.5 needles to make gauge and the yarn has a rough, somewhat unpleasant hand to it. It doesn't color pool, but the stripes that form have some personality to them-they like to do their own thing! I was very pleasantly surprised when I wet blocked this sock-the fabric bloomed beautifully, with any roughness disappearing. Because of the bright dyes used, be forwarned, it will spit color for what seems forever, so HAND WASH ONLY until it stops bleeding any color!! The colors in this yarn certainly get peoples attention though-they are very bright indeed.

Vibrant color but rough fabric

By Princess Palindrome

from Medford, MA

Pros

  • Colors Do Not Pool
  • Self striping
  • vibrant color

Cons

  • Rough Texture
  • Splitty

Best Uses

  • Gloves
  • Hats
  • Socks

I pulled the yarn from the center of the ball and the whole core popped out in a tangled mess; it took me nearly an hour to untangle it before I could even begin my project. The colors are amazingly vibrant and didn't pool in stockinette (socks). The color changes vary in length so the stripes are all different widths, which I like. Occasionally a color has a slightly different texture/thickness which didn't affect my gauge but made for slight variations in the texture of the fabric now and then. The yarn is quite splitty even with very sharp needles and I had to ladder back several times to fix split stitches. The fabric is rather rough; I am hopeful that soaking in Eucalan will soften it up.
