Noro Kureyon

Noro Kureyon is the original striping yarn. It is incredibly popular year after year and we can see why! Each skein of Noro Kureyon is a multitude of natural colors and no two projects will look exactly alike. This beautiful yarn is just waiting to be knit.  Made in Japan.

I used Noro Kureyon to make a throw for a birthday gift for my sister. The colors are vibrant and help create a patchwork effect. I love the way knitting with Noro surprises you...you can't really know what it will look like until it's finished and no two items will ever look the same.

I bought this yarn to make the Seraphina shawl. In the end, I bought 9 skeins in two batches, and though the shawl was still smaller than I wanted, I refuse to buy any more. I gave it to a small person. The yarn felt harsh in my hands and was full of bits of grass or hay or something. I had not realized that it was a variable thickness yarn, it varied from a very tight twist about sport yarn size to basically untwisted roving. I didn't care for that but could live with it. But I grew to hate it more with every skein - why? Every skein had at least one knot where a new strand had been tied on, and there was never any attention to the color sequence. After 9 skeins, I STILL don't know what the sequence should be. The result was a lot of puddling, and an overall muddy look to the shawl. One would think in a yarn made popular for the color striping that they would at least try for quality in that feature. I was VERY disappointed, and will not buy Noro yarns again.

      Comments about Noro Kureyon:

I made mittens with this yarn. They were adorable. I loved the color changes. I did not love the unraveling that happened too frequently to be recommended for anything larger than a scarf or mittens.

        Comments about Noro Kureyon:

I love the vivid, brilliant color combinations of this Noro yarn. Unfortunately, I find the yarn rather scratchy, which works well for hats or sweaters that will be worn with another layer under. I have yet to clean it, but am going to try to handwash with Eucalan rather than dry clean.

        Comments about Noro Kureyon:

There is nothing like Noro's Kureyon yarn! The color combinations are bold and unusual. I have had made two sweaters in Kureyon and they have held up for close to 10 years of wear in the VT winters. The colors have not faded. It has also softened a bit more overtime. I don't mind the feel of the wool. Others may find this yarn scratchy, esp. if one is used to working with merino yarns. I love how Kureyon can take a "Plain Jane" pattern and turn it into something stunning! Further, if you are just knitting garter or stockingnette stitches for your project, you don't get bored. The color changes help keep you interested. I would give this 5 stars if wasn't for the fact that the thickness of the strand of yarn is not always consistent; sometimes it will get really thin and I worry that it will create a weak point in my sweater.

As always, I got my order super duper fast from Webs. My order arrived faster than where I could decide to hide it from my family.

              Comments about Noro Kureyon:

I wanted to make unique Christmas Stockings for my sons and their wives. I feel that I made a great choice by using Noro Kureyon yarn. My only objection to the yarn is that there were almost always knots (more than one) in the balls, which caused me to have to spend time figuring out how to continue with the color changes.

I love Kureyon though, and have many things with it. In my opinion, it is better to be felted because it is rough wool prior the felting process...but oh, those wonderful colors!

I would add photos except that I finished felting them yet. Hopefully, I will be able to come back and add photos at a later date.
