Made a striped slouchy hat with 2 different skeins and it is very pretty when you do this. This is what they do in a lot of the sweater patterns from Noro too.

The Upside: This yarn has some really beautiful colors and is super warm knitted up. The Noro Stripped Scarf I made (Raverly pattern) turned out lovely.

The Downside: Both skeins I used were full of sharp small organic material that needed to be picked out every few yards (I'm not exaggerating). Plus it's very coarse. Most people would probably find it unpleasant against bare skin.

I decided I while I wouldn't recommend this yarn to a friend, I would use it again myself.

Knit a sweater. Great colors. Had to reorder as I hadn't purchased enough the first time. Got exactly what I needed, short time frame.

      Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

This is the solo silk garden I'm using, it's very rustic in texture. I decided to compare this silk garden to some in my stash from a few years back, the quality difference is night and day. The materials are not high quality, and in places it might be a "worsted" weight, but it goes from a fingering weight all the way to a super bulky, more of what I'd describe as a thick and thin yarn. I found this to be true with the painted colors, too. They used to use much better quality wool and silk, and it did not used to be so thick and thin. I think Noro needs to know we notice this!

          Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

I got color way #84, and made a top from Noro magazine, it had a few unmatched breaks, knotted to the next piece of yarn by the manufacturer. It went ok. Then I got color way #341, and I'm making the houndstooth top in the Noro magazine, I did choose a brighter color way than the designer, seeing that they must have had to break off the dark parts of the yarn in the color they chose. I ended up throwing away over half of the yarn, it had so many knots in it joining up to colors out of the order that they were dyed in, there was so much of the muddy ugly color joined to it out of the color sequence, I had to order more, got 2 coming just to get one more complete sequence of the bright colors that they cut out of the 6 rolls of this I got for the pattern. Next time, I'll use their pattern, and somebody else's yarn…I weighed what couldn't be used-it's over 150 grams- that's too much!

          Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

I bought this for my sister as a gift and gave her 16 different colorways. When the box arrived, I just wanted to play! I have worked with this yarn only once, but loved the way it worked up with a soft mush of interesting colors. I plan to use it more in the future, and my sister is going to use her gift to create a one-of-a-kind throw for her home. My only tiny complaint is that it has a slight tendency to twist up while working and I think it has to do with the thin/thick quality of the yarn. Still, it's marvelous stuff!

I've made shawls years ago from Silk garden and they've worn very well and I still love them. This time I'm making a vest. Silk Garden is softer than many Noro harms and the colors are beautiful.

                Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

I use this yarn as both warp and weft for long, deliciously wooly twill scarves. The yarn isn't really strong enough for warp but when an end breaks, it is easy to repair. I like the effect of using the same variegated yarn as both warp and weft for surprising color effects. I can only buy on sale as I can't use every inch of yarn using a floor loom.

I am knitting a cardigan using a ribbed & lace stitch, and it is looking gorgeous! The colors are subtle but perfect (ah, Noro!)
My only complaint is the occasional know that tends to throw off my carefully planned color changes...but it does make things more interesting!
