Debbie Bliss Paloma

Debbie Bliss Paloma is a lofty chainette yarn. It is a luxurious blend of baby alpaca and merino. It works up at a bulky gauge, but thanks to the construction, it is light. Made in Peru.

    Comments about Debbie Bliss Paloma:

I loved working with this yarn. It is a tactile delight. I made a long cardigan - the winter go-to, goes with everything, wear around the house cardigan.

My first issue, and this really isn't with the yarn, is that it was really hard to find a pattern I liked. I was looking for something that used lace, since I didn't want to overheat, and didn't want to look at yards of stockinette. I finally found a pattern that was sort of ok, but I modified it heavily.

It knitted up pretty quickly and I began wearing it. It feels wonderful! The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is that it pills a lot in the underarm, and this is just after a few weeks wear. I'm afraid that as I wear it more it will pill all over.

However, the beret I made with the leftovers has not pilled at all and is an absolute favorite - the pattern is the Montse beret, free on Revelry.

Since it so wants to pill, I bet it would felt beautifully.

        Comments about Debbie Bliss Paloma:

I have not worked with the yarn yet, but it is soft and lovely. I plan to make a cabled cowl. I ordered the soft green, which is a bit more green than what the image shows online--which could be due to the computer screen or just the dye lot.

          Comments about Debbie Bliss Paloma:

I used this for a cowl. It is heavenly soft. I would recommend this for winter scarves. I am almost always get gauge with the recommended needle size. If you were making a sweater I would recommend going down a needle size for a firmer fabric.

Love that Paloma is chunky without being heavy or bulky! It is lofty, owing to the chainette construction, and provides warmth without weight.

I used this to make an infinity scarf, knit on 19s with the yarn wrapped twice. It was so lightweight it is like not having anything on, but it is still warm. Because it's a chain yarn it has a lot of stretch.

Debbie Bliss Paloma is a joy to knit. It works quickly into sweaters you actually wear - every day! I've knit 3 of the Moss stitch jacket; each took about 30 hours of work. The colors stay true and the fiber reveals stitches beautifully. I'm a FAN!

                  Comments about Debbie Bliss Paloma:

Wonderfully soft, it felt light after working with Rowan Alpaca Chunky, but it still has a good weight to it compared to other alternatives. Really excellent price for the material. I love the braided yarn, it's easy to work with, feels wonderful, and is perfectly warm. This yarn really shines with cables.
