I made the Tucked Pullover sweater designed by Quenna Lee and published in Knit Wear (fall/winter2013) with Coffee Bean Brown Silky Wool. It was really fun to work with and I absolutely love my finished sweater. It's lightweight but nice and warm and it layers well over blouses and tops. I was afraid I didn't have enough yarn to make the sleeves as long as I wanted, but found it easy to stretch them out during blocking. I was so impressed that I bought more in two different colors to make more sweaters. Can't wait to get started on them.

I purchased a ball of this at my LYS to swatch before ordering. Glad I did. It's classified as a DK, and it looks like about a DK -- until you knit it up. It's very lightweight, with a loose twist, so it knits up more as a fingering. This yarn would be ideal for a floaty, lacy scarf, but I wouldn't recommend it for a cozy sweater. That said, it's pretty, has a good hand, and the texture is just the teeniest bit pebbly. It knits up very evenly.

Comments about Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool:

I have seen this yarn around for years but only decided to try it with WEBS' sale and color selection. Why did I wait? I've only swatched a textured three-color pattern and cable with moss stitch but both are excellent. The combination of wool and silk gives this yarn a lovely texture without losing any stitch definition. If you didn't read the yarn label, you'd swear from the knit-up appearance that it was majority raw silk. And it's feel surprised me. I can only wear soft wool blends next to my skin; I'm going to try it with this yarn because it's so non-scratchy. I have ordered three more colors of this yarn and I'm scoping out a couple of others - I may be late to the party but I learn fast. Love this yarn. (The colors in the swatch are 36 Cinnamon, 29 Vibrant Green and 74 Orange. I also have 147 Pale Ale which is almost identical to Cinnamon but with more tweedy speckles.)

Comments about Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool:

I am thrilled to have found this yarn. I needed it for the Norwegian sock in Elsebeth's Viking Knits. I used a comparable yarn for my first pair, but there is no comparison. When at my sister's in Green Bay last week, we placed another order together and saved postage. The colors are yummy!!! Keep knitting.

I love love love this yarn. It was an easy pick for a lighter weight sweater as a friend had used it before and I loved how it worked for her. On her recommendation I purchased it and whole heartedly agree. Friend says it washes and holds it shape extremely well.

This is beautiful yarn. I bought it in several colors to make shawls for gifts. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the fact that several skeins had yarn pieced and tied together. I hate it when yarn companies piece their skeins. This causes yardage loss and should not be at the customers expense.
