Noro Kureyon

Noro Kureyon is the original striping yarn. It is incredibly popular year after year and we can see why! Each skein of Noro Kureyon is a multitude of natural colors and no two projects will look exactly alike. This beautiful yarn is just waiting to be knit.  Made in Japan.

I used Noro Kureyon to make a throw for a birthday gift for my sister. The colors are vibrant and help create a patchwork effect. I love the way knitting with Noro surprises you...you can't really know what it will look like until it's finished and no two items will ever look the same.

          Comments about Noro Kureyon:

I bought this yarn to make the Seraphina shawl. In the end, I bought 9 skeins in two batches, and though the shawl was still smaller than I wanted, I refuse to buy any more. I gave it to a small person. The yarn felt harsh in my hands and was full of bits of grass or hay or something. I had not realized that it was a variable thickness yarn, it varied from a very tight twist about sport yarn size to basically untwisted roving. I didn't care for that but could live with it. But I grew to hate it more with every skein - why? Every skein had at least one knot where a new strand had been tied on, and there was never any attention to the color sequence. After 9 skeins, I STILL don't know what the sequence should be. The result was a lot of puddling, and an overall muddy look to the shawl. One would think in a yarn made popular for the color striping that they would at least try for quality in that feature. I was VERY disappointed, and will not buy Noro yarns again.

          Comments about Noro Kureyon:

To describe my con: almost every Noro skein has a cut somewhere with a new run knotted in. I wish they wouldn't do that. It does upset the color run, and I don't want a knot in my finished product.

Beyond that, I love the colors and will always pick Noro over other striping yarns because the colors are so much more vibrant and make beautiful finished products.

            Comments about Noro Kureyon:

I'm currently knitting an afghan with this yarn, in combination with a solid color yarn by another brand. This Kureyon by Noro is such fun to knit! The colors are very bright, and the color changes are playful and unexpected. Using just the Kureyon by itself for a large project might be too much of a good thing, but in combination with a dark, solid color, smooth yarn it's really stunning. Also, the Noro is a thick-and-thin yarn, so in addition to the bright color changes, you also get textural variations, too. It's really great!

                Comments about Noro Kureyon:

This is a great yarn with great colors. Makes beautiful items. My only complaint would be that is not unusual to find a knot in the skein often joining two completely different colors. I love the thick/thin element of this yarn. Mistakes are easily hidden.

                        Comments about Noro Kureyon:

I bought two skeins of Kureyon yarn because of the beautiful dye colors. I made two lace style cowl for our New Year fundraiser. I tried many different patterns before settling on a simple alternating pattern of Purl two together, yarn over followed by a knit row. I used size 9 knitting needles and made each cowl 7 inches by about 27, knitting to the end of each skein in order to maximize the circumference of each cowl and use every bit of yarn. The simple lace pattern allowed the lovely color variations in the yarn to show. The lace pattern, also, make the cowl light enough for a late winter early spring wearing.

This is a sturdy yarn. I knit up one skein, unraveled it, and then reknit it about five times before I found a suitable pattern. I must say the yarn held up beautifully. I would definitely use this yarn again. Especially for gifts and fundraising projects such as this. The blended colors are so attractive. Once I finally found a pattern, the cowls worked up quickly and easily.

Great service! Great price! And all the colors you need! I am currently working on a blanket using the Kureyon series from Noro called 64 crayons, a fun mindless project but requires lots of Kureyon. Since only one yarn store near me carries few colors of this type of yarn, I needed another source but a good one! I also needed a source that I knew I could get this yarn quick and was knowledgable, Web's is an amazing source!
