I used four colors of it for the multicolored stripes in a sweater for myself, plus another six or so colors in a hat. It was delightful to knit -- soft, non-splitty, non-twisty -- and it washed and dried beautifully in the machine. I washed a large swatch first before I started the sweater and was amazed that it came out of the dryer (I set it at medium but my dryer is HOT) looking exactly like it went into the washer. The same was true of the sweater when I ran it through the washer (warm wash, cool rinse, normal cycle) and dryer at the end of winter. I cannot say enough good things about this yarn.

This is the most disappointing yarn I've used in 50 years of knitting. The color was just what I wanted; knitting with the yarn was very pleasant. I completed a very complicated sweater and was excited to clean and wear it. At the very first -- very careful -- washing, the yarn pilled horribly; I have sweaters that are ten years old that aren't such a mess. I've worn the sweater one time, and it proceeded to shed all over my slacks and turtleneck. I was a mess within an hour. I won't ever wear the sweater again; I'm not sure it's is worth giving to Goodwill. Don't waste your time or money on this yarn. (I have given it one star because the system won't let me submit the review without a star...hmmmph.)

Soft, washable yarn with great stitch definition. Have made five baby blankets using this yarn. Wouldn't use any other brand. Fluffs back to perfect shape in the dryer...set on low (or air dry.)
Does not pill!!! Gorgeous when used with "lace" stitch. I highly recommend this brand...and I'm very "fussy" about yarn quality.

Using this yarn to make a baby blanket. It is fantastic. It is pricey when you consider the amount needed for this project but worth it for someone special.

I loved the way this worked up, soft with good stitch definition. I made a somewhat complicated, fitted, sweater. It even looked a little small when I finished. Then I wet it to block it, and it stretched out tremendously! I mean dragged down to my knees and off my shoulders. I was stunned, as it is totally unwearable. I can only imagine those who have commented favorably have not yet washed their garment, or it is something where size doesn't matter.

I am always impressed with customer service. Everything is done to satisfy the customer. Waiting for a hand dyed yarn and having it carefully shipped when a back order comes in, then immediate receipt of the yarn. All these make for excellent service.

Washing really helps make the stitches uniform and creates a slight haze of fluffiness. I washed and dried the swatch in the washer and dryer using higher temps than I normally would to mimic the tough handling the baby afghan will probably receive at the laundromat. I was thrilled with the results.

When I first reviewed Valley Superwash DK on 4/23/13 I gave it 5 stars. While I am still happy with the overall performance, after using about 4 skeins I have found one or two spots in each skein where two lengths have been knotted together. I was surprised at the first knot, but by now I am disappointed and need to reduce my rating from 5 to 4. I would still recommend it because of the price, but with reservations.

As a creator of things for littles for my Etsy shop (Sweet Alora's Frocks and Things) I am always on the look out for wonderful yarn at good prices. This absolutely fit the bill! I highly recommend this yarn for things for littles, as it is soft, easy to use, and doesn't shed or unravel.
