Classic Elite Yarns Soft Linen

Classic Elite Soft Linen is a touchable wonder in a surprisingly soft blend. Linen adds durability and cooling properties, wool adds elasticity, and baby alpaca softens this squishy, multi-ply yarn. Soft Linen is great for spring and summer garments you can wear into the cool evening. Made in Peru.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Soft Linen:

I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of this yarn. It knitted up beautifully with good stitch definition and good drape. It became even softer after hand washing and tossing the knitted garment into the dryer with a large beach towel until just barely damp and then blocked beautifully. this softened the yarn and brought out the alpaca halo, resulting in a beautiful finished garment.

Used smaller than recommended needles to achieve greater density.

Will design and knit other shawls/scarves using Soft Linen in various colors

I am using this yarn for a vest with a variety of stitches in the pattern. The yarn gives good stitch definition to the solid parts of the pattern, and is lovely in the lacey parts.

I am trying to make a short sleeved sweater. This yarn is scratchy with some kind of fibers in it. I know it's linen. I just didn't know it would be so scratchy. Maybe when it's washed it will be ok.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Soft Linen:

This is a pretty descent wool and linen blend. It stretches just a bit to much for my taste. I have basically given up on linen and any blends of linen because of the stretch. This particular yarn was also a bit difficult to fix when you have to frog.its plus side is it is surprisingly soft having some linen in it.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Soft Linen:

Wow - love the results I got with this yarn. I knitted the Porto sweater from Twist Collective in new fern (color 2281). It has a nice even twist, evenly dyed, no knots in the 10 or so balls I used, and makes a sturdy spit splice. I used a gentle (no pins) wet block to get the seed stitch edging to lay flat. The fiber content is perfect for a dk yarn, producing a cool weather weight garment with a little warmth and tremendous drape. I think the stray filaments of linen in the halo ad charm, but some folks may not like them.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Soft Linen:

This yarn was purchased with the Classic Elite Meadow Melody pattern pamphlet to make the Daisy cardigan pictured. I was a little unsure of how it would knit up---although soft, the yarn had a somewhat rope-like look to it in the ball (may have been the color I chose, but there were little bits of fiber from the linen sticking out that contributed to this). I am now about half-way through the sweater, and I am loving this yarn. It has a very nice hand, with a soft but very slightly crunchy texture, and it gives great stitch definition. Now I am eyeing the pullover from the same pamphlet and trying to decide what color of Soft Linen I want to make it in.
