I love to crochet but don't like fuss. I have PTSD (Post Traumatic Shock) and working with soft yarn and soothing colors is healing for me. This yarn creates beautiful patterns with long smooth color ways. Personally I think most yarn will knot in the skein if you aren't careful, and my generation learned to roll balls of yarn to get around this. I use a box my husband made 30+ years ago that holds the yarn balls so they don't escape while feeding the flow of yarn smoothly through a hole in the top. A coffee can would work as well. ;-)

I chose this because the baby-to-come's mother will be wanting to wash often anything the baby uses. She's fanatic about that, and I wanted it to be easy so she'd feel easy about using the blanket. It's not as soft as I had imagined, though it's really OK. I couldn't tell the balance of colors in the range I chose from the skein, so I didn't get the amount of yellow I was hoping for. Another time I would have looked further than my nearby store for the original skeins. What I bought here was an extra one, since I wanted a little larger sized blanket than they had yarn for. I wish I had made the effort to look further, though it will be fine. I think I should have held out for a cotton blend. Since the yarn is what do you call it (a chainette?) it has a single fine thread that makes it all up. If one strand breaks it's possible for the whole yarn to come apart, creating a break. This happened far down the web which took some time to repair. I later learned a way to splice this kind of yarn by threading a yarn needle with the next end down the center of the chain.

    Comments about Ella Rae Seasons:

I bought Ella Rae Seasons a couple of years ago and made an afghan for a new grandson. I loved using it and the afghan was warm, squishy, pretty and had nice drape. I used a variation of Frankie Brown's Ten Stitch blanket and the colors pooled nicely. When a new granddaughter was born this year, I decided to make another afghan with a different colorway and it is knitting up just as beautifully as the first afghan.

        Purchased four colors: Rainbow, Red/Purple, Sky/Orange/Red & Teal/Navy/Gray.

So far have made a hat, mittens and a scarf (in progress). Encountered a couple knots; connecting an out-of-color sequence. Easily corrected.

This yarn feels a little un-soft, not coarse but, well, not soft either. I'm hoping that it will become softer after it is washed.

Overall I'm pleased with this purchase.
