I should have known as soon as I opened the box that this yarn would never do for making an afghan. It was marked: "Will knit up as chunky for most patterns." It is thin, stringy, stretchy, and not all that soft. I was going to make an afghan with US13 needles, but I don't want to interact with this huge disapointment of a yarn for that long (and, since it really isn't chunky, I won't have enough for a decent size afghan). I even knit a swatch in US10 needles to see if it would work for something else. Even at US10, this yarn was a disappointment.

Comments about James C. Brett Marble Chunky:

The marble chunky yarn is my standard go-to yarn for projects such as blankets, throws, shawls, scarves and hats, and baby items (cocoons, car seat covers). It is quite well-behaved, works up quickly, and the colorways are just gorgeous. Also, the 200-gram balls are a generous size and a great deal for the money

Comments about James C. Brett Marble Chunky:

The reasons I like this yarn so much, as I've stated already, is the variety of colors which are mixed within the yarn itself. Then we have the the chunky ply which makes up very quickly. I'm so glad that I happened upon James C. Brett. Still being a novice crocheter, I appreciate this yarn for making Infinity scarves as gifts as well as slouchy hats.
I strongly recommend this yarn for any crochet project. It's very forgiving.

Comments about James C. Brett Marble Chunky:

Especially like tto make gifts for a new baby with this. Cocoons, hats, sweaters, blankets, whatever. This self striping yarn comes in many color combinations, knits up easily and quickly, washes beautifully. I love to make things for babies but working with baby yarn is not my thing, and as one who had an infant, I want new parents to be able to toss their gift into the washer and dryer and take out something that is still soft and attractive. For winter babies, new parents have been very happy with the cocoon and little hat combination. Several have used the cocoons right in the hospital or for taking the baby home. Making a sweater for next winter for a little one who will be born soon (It's June now.) Little shawl collar cardigan with a matching hat. Very cute. I also recommend the Kertzer made Brett Marble DK weight for all the same reasons. Use both weights often to knit hats and sweaters for my grandchildren as well. Highly recommend both of these products Kertzer Marble Chunky and DK

This is an old standby yarn I use to knit baby "cocoons", or sleep sacks, and car seat blankets. It's soft, comfortable, and machine washes nicely. Also works up very quickly on Size 11 needles. I've never tried it, but due to the texture I don't think it would lend itself to crochet as well as it does to knitting.
