Warping with this yarn was a dream! First scarf I set at 20epi. Lovely soft drape, although with the twill I was using, I had rather long floats, so for the second scarf I changed to 24epi, and used a slightly different twill with shorter floats (I'm concerned about the fabric snagging in a scarf). Will definitely use this again, but might consider using a wool/silk blend for the weft to help stabilize the fabric.

The yarn was beautiful but completely inaccurate and a different, lighter tone than what is described in the picture. The yarn itself, other thasn color us as described. The problem with the color was not due to different screen colors.. it was the same on every screen I opened it on, including the customer service representative I called at WEBS... they literally got up and grabbed a few cones and confirmed all of them were much lighter than what was described in picture... (while they were pleasant about it, I still had to ask for them to do this.)
Again, the color was beautiful but not a true representation of the picture and what was described.
The yarn itself is amazing, just the wrong color.

This is so easy to work with, even on the spools. It seems to just fly onto the needles and knits up so smoothly. Using it double is easy - it doesn't twist or bunch up and tangle easily either. I loved making the sweater I made and I think I have enough left to make a shawl too.

Comments about Valley Yarns 2/14 Alpaca Silk:

I wove a shawl and an infinity wrap with this yarn, and was so happy with the results I am about to order more. I wove the first two items with the same yarn as weft, but then I sampled using 8/2 tencel weft and the shiny/matte contrast is gorgeous, so my next pieces will use a tencel weft. THanks to all the reviewers who helped me realize a sett of 24 would work just fine for the diamond twill I used.

              Service and delivery comments:

I knew when I ordered the yarn that the color I wanted was back-ordered. When it was ready to ship I was contacted to make sure that I still wanted the yarn. I appreciated that since it had been a while and I might have changed my mind. It's nice to know that you won't get stuck paying shipping to return something that you've decided you don't want.

I bought this with a gift card given for Christmas. I like that the yarn comes on a cone - I find that easier to handle when knitting. I haven't used it yet except for a swatch but I am looking forward to doing some nice lace work with it. Love the color and feel. I hope it blocks well.

Comments about Valley Yarns 2/14 Alpaca Silk:

I have used this yarn before & thrilled to see it on sale. I've made several lace shawls with beading & once blocked, shows the patterns beautifully. So soft against the skin. I also over dyed some of the lt. grey with Kool-Aid & came up with some wonderful colors. It does, however, split so I tried different needle points until I was comfortable with the results. I am also going to try plying some with merino yarn that I have spun.

                  Service and delivery comments:

As always, yarn arrived promptly & in good condition.

The best thing is the worst thing. This beautiful yarn is sold by the miles on cones and needs slightly tedious rewinding in order to be used doubled which has been my preference so far. Still, this yarn is lovely and the knitted results are great.

Fast delivery from WEBS is wonderful. I appreciate that as much as the good choices. :)
