Nice soft yarn-beautiful hand, shows great stitch definition and available in many lovely colors. And like most of the Valley yarn line, very economically priced. I have only one gripe about this yarn. I found out by accident that it shrinks and will keep shrinking. And it felts too. I had a pair of socks go from a 11.5" long foot to a 7" long foot. I love this yarn for nice heavy cozy socks but will only use it AFTER I pre shrink the dickens out of it (boiling water-ice bath X5 shock) It's a great yarn but be careful washing the finished garment.

I submitted an earlier review of this yarn, but I am submitting another because my experience with the second ball was even worse than with the first. In the two balls, I encountered five knots, two broken plies, and one poorly spun section. In one hat, I now have 16 additional ends to weave in. Completely unacceptable.

Comments about Valley Yarns Valley Superwash:

I've used this yarn (and the DK weight) to make tons of baby gifts - blankets, toys, and sweaters. The colors are vibrant, and the yarn is SO soft. I haven't machine-washed it myself, so I can't speak to that, but I haven't had any complaints from recipients.

Valley Superwash comes in a wide range of colors. It has a beautiful hand on the needles and is incredibly soft once made up.

I bought several pastel shades and red, intending them for baby gifts. I was not disappointed.

Comments about Valley Yarns Valley Superwash:

I am making the baby blanket pattern that recommends this yarn. It's my second knitting project. My knitting mentor commented on the softness of the wool, as well as its loft. I am getting used to the stretchiness of the yarn As a beginner, my challenges with this yarn are being able to knit evenly (due to stretching) and preventing splits (due to a somewhat loose twist). I know that by using care I will end up with a wonderfully soft gift!
