    Knitting Fever Painted Desert

Painted Desert by Knitting Fever is a soft, self-striping fingering weight yarn that's perfect for shawls, wraps and lace projects. Painted Desert is two plies, each a different luminous jewel tone with long color changes. With a supple hand and plenty of stretch, Painted Desert will be a joy to work with, and there's enough yarn in one 100g ball to make a shawl. Made in China.

This yarn has a wonderful color change between 2 colors. The spring green changes from green to purple and back. I have another one not listed that changes between dark pink and purple. Very subtle.
I made a lacy triangle shawl with it. While knitting it was very soft and squishy, very fine for fingering. But then it blocked out great and shows all the details beautifully.
I want to stress again how soft this is. It just says 'superwash wool' but it feels like merino with silk!

Beautiful colors and fun to knit. But had 2 yarn breaks in one 100 gram ball and inconsistent yarn thickness. It's a center pull ball but using it from that end made it twirl and spin on itself so frogged it and used other end. It would be great if this were in a skein so I could wind it myself-- inconvenient to do from a ball.

Not sure if I would buy this again.

This yarn is knitting up beautifully in a shawl. I love the colors and how they blend. I'd like to try every color! The jewel tone is a little more subdued than I like, but it is beautiful anyway. The shawl will be soft and cozy.

I am using this in Manos' Pattern Jayne. The colorway is almost the same in the picture but I believe Painted Desert is a bit more springy fiber. All the same, it is resulting in a beautiful accessory.

Comments about Knitting Fever Painted Desert:

I am on my second sweater using this yarn. It is sunning if you use 2 strands together. First sweater was size 8 needles, now using size4 for tight, even gauge. Fabric is still soft and stretchy. Tried sweater with one strand and it looked sloppy, thin and was taking forever.

This yarn tangles and knots to itself terribly. By many failed attempts I found that it works fine if you take it from the outside of the ball. Do not attempt to pull from the center.
