Classic Elite Yarns Alpaca Sox

Your tootsies will thank you for knitting socks in this lovely color-washed sock yarn. Classic Elite Alpaca Sox contains a generous dose of 60% alpaca with a heaping helping of merino to make soft, warm socks (or mittens!), and the array of colors in each skein makes for real luxury. A big skein of 450 yards makes two socks and then some.  Made in Peru.

I have been knitting for many years. The yarn is soft, but sturdy and feels wonderful as it passes through your fingers. Size 2 needles work out to a good gauge for socks or hats. I reinforce the heel and toe of socks since that is the area most likely to wear. One skein of yarn will make an extra large pair of socks or stocking cap. I always wash the garments in cold water on a gentle cycle. Zippered, mesh bags cut down on any felting.

My mistake not reading the label, but I simply couldn't imagine selling sock yarn, that had to be hand washed. So after many many hours knitting up soft cabled long socks, I now have a felted sock too small to even use as a sock puppet.

So learn from my mistake, only use for items that won't need constant wahing - like socks do.

This is a gift and yes, I hate telling someone they need to hand wash socks, but based on how these feel when wearing well worth it.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Alpaca Sox:

Although this is a sock weight yarn, I prefer to use it for lace shawls. I'm not sure alpaca would stand up to the wear and tear and washing that socks would demand. This yarn is soft, easy to work with, and comes in gorgeous colours.

                    Service and delivery comments:

Webs is my go-to online yarn store. I'm sure I must own shares in the company by now. Delivery and service are impeccible.
