This yarn is fantastic. I craft primarily for my Prayer Shawl Ministry and usually make shawls with Lionbrand Homespun. I will now be exclusively using this Marble Chunky. The size is great for quick finish projects and the length is almost twice a standard bulky skein. The yarn is very soft with a slight halo but knits and crochets up beautifully. The best thing is that you can do detailed crocheted patterns by using the eyes of the stitches and not just the holes between. I was unable to do this with LB Homespun. I would recommend this to anyone wanting beautifully striped items that are soft to the touch and very comfortable to wear and easy to care for.

I loved the color of the James C. Brett Marble Chunky; I got the Summer Green. It had a very subtle color play of different shades of green. I had planned to make a shawl that would go with lots of my wardrobe.

Unfortunately, I found it to be somewhat coarse. This may have been improved by washing and drying; I don't know. But I found it to also be very splitty. The problem got so bad that I don't think I will be able to knit with it. And it's a real shame, because I really loved the color (not to mention lots of the other Marble Chunky colors). I just wasn't able to work with it.

Comments about James C. Brett Marble Chunky:

I used a variety of colors to make a Japanese Flower afghan for a friend. I'm new to crochet, but I found this yarn easy to work with. I love the look of Noro variegated wools, but I needed something inexpensive and washable. This Marble Chunky was perfect, and everyone who saw the flowered afghan thought it was beautiful. I used both "I" and "J" crochet hooks with this yarn, but you could even go larger, depending on the gauge decided.

Comments about James C. Brett Marble Chunky:

Bought my first ball in a yarn shop near Yellowstone NP on a road trip (hated the project I brought), and I haven't looked back since. I have used Jan Eaton's Willow Square to make a few afghans and the color evolution is lovely, every square looks different but not out of place. Afghans with this yarn look rich and expensive, even though the yarn is pretty cheap. And it is washable - can't beat that. Highly reccomend.

Comments about James C. Brett Marble Chunky:

I teach knitting classes, everything from beginner to expert, and this is a yarn I always recommend to the novices. It has a nice soft hand, knits up quickly and the colours are gorgeous. Very good quality and the high yardage makes it very economical to buy.

My beginners use rather blunt needles to avoid splitting and when they find what fine quality accessories they can make, I always have an enthusiastic class, eager to learn more. The machine washable is always a big plus.

This is always one of my "go to" yarns for my personal use and I have used it for items from baby wear to a coat for myself. And, no, I don't have shares in the company. Lol Just a very satisfied customer.

Comments about James C. Brett Marble Chunky:

This has become the favorite yarn that 15+ knitters in our Prayer Shawl Ministry have been using for several years now to make beautiful, soft shawls. The colors are lovely and new colors are continually added. Buying in bulk keeps the price in our range.

The yarn can be a little splitty so I would recommend using a blunter needle but I was very pleased with the way it knitted up and it created a lovely prayer shawl.

I am not happy with acrylic yarn, however, and will stick with wool next time.
