Louet Euroflax Sport

Louet Euroflax Sport is a long line linen made out of flax-fiber. The yarn is double-boiled and steamed to give it a very soft and exceptional quality. Louet Euroflax Sport is great for home decor projects, but also fantastic for garments. Made in Belgium

I have finished the most beautiful garment-a suite for myself from Euroflax sport weight in french blue using #2 needles. I have heard from several people that it is difficult to knit due to yarn does not give. I did not have any problem with the yarn, and even if I had, the end product would have worth the difficulties. I knitted the skirt from the Interweave Knits, Spring 2007. The pattern name is "Indigo Ripples Skirt". I created the matching top myself. The look is so polished and almost etherial, it creates a "Wow!" effect wherever I go. I had even stranger man complimenting on my outfit! It is good enough to go to a classy dinner or a day wedding, and the linen feels so great in a summer! I am in love with the yarn. It took 6 scanes to create my suite, but it is worth every penny!

    Love this yarn

    Pros

    • Drapes beautifully
    • Good yardage
    • Useful for many projects

    Cons

    • A Bit Scratchy On The Han

    Best Uses

    • Clothing That Drapes
    • Shawls
    • Spa Cloths

I have made flowy tops and scarves with this yarn. Although it is a bit stiff and scratchy to work with, it softens up and becomes a lovely fabric that gets nicer with washing. I am going to make a skirt using five different colors of the Euroflax and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

I'm learning to love euroflax linen

    By ArizonaSusana

    Pros

    • Beautiful colors
    • Comfortable to wear
    • Lovely drape
    • Machine wash and dry
    • soft after washing

    Cons

    • Difficult To Knit With
    • Hard To Determine Gauge
    • Lots of lint

    Best Uses

    • Baby clothes
    • Shawls
    • Tops

My first experiences with linen were not good as I could not determine gauge - the fwbric changes so much after washing. It softens a great deal after washing, so is kind of "wiry" to knit with. However, the fabric is beautiful after washing and easy to care for, so I keep coming back to euroflax linen yarn.

Euroflax Sport is a great linen

    By Richard the Weaver

    from Riverside, CA

    Pros

    • Consistent Colort
    • Good Warp Fiber
    • Reliable quality

    Cons

    • A Little Pricey

    Best Uses

    • Placemats
    • Warp For Weaving

Louet's Euroflax is the best source of colored 100% linen. It's a little pricey, and I might like the same colors in a half-pound or one pound cone. Sport works well at 12 dent, or up to 15 dent. I have no idea how knitting with linen would work.

Great for warm weather, the tops and sweaters just get softer with time. Also made a market bag that holds a ton, and it has really held up

      The perfect sweater yarn

      By Barbara

      from Grand Haven, Michigan

      Verified Buyer

      Pros

      • Beautiful colors
      • Beautiful drape
      • Machine dryable
      • Machine washable
      • No Felting
      • No pilling
      • No shrinking
      • Silk Like Sheen
      • Very soft and cozy

      Cons

      • Need more patterns

      Best Uses

      • Easy Care Sweaters
      • Knitting

I love knitting with Euroflax Linen. It is not hard on my hands like cotton and it just gets softer and has more drape with age. I love that I can toss it in the machine to wash and to dry and it comes out beautifully and NO PILLS! It is the perfect yarn for a gift sweater too because the receiver does not have to handle it with care for fear of felting, shrinking or pilling. The colors are lovely and such a huge choice. This is going to be my "go to" yarn for future knitting for myself and for gifting.

This linen has spoiled me for anything else. Once knit, it gets softer but still keeps its sheen. I made a tightly knit tank top in the charcoal color that is sturdy but cool in warm weather. Will make a lace scarf in the charcoal to go with it. Next project will be a lace tunic/tank in the ginger, then a long sleeved, loose knit tee in french blue. I have every color on my wish list!

        Service and delivery comments:

Arrived within a week each time I ordered in great condition, and when out of one color they sent me a message right away, made the switch and it was on its way the next day.

I initially started out using this to warp my small rigid heddle loom, but the knots kept comong undone. So I then used it as the weft and it worked out beautifully, and of course softened with use!
