Valley Yarns Goshen

We fell in love with this yarn at first sight. Valley Yarns Goshen is very soft! The Modal® and silk not only add a slight sheen, but also durablity. Garments will not pill and will stand the test of time.  Made in Peru.

I just finished a sweater for my daughter in law and a dress for my youngest granddaughter. What a delightful yarn to work with. Feels great in the hand and knits up beautifully. Love the light sheen the yarn gives to fabrics. Have now used 15+ balls of this yarn and have found not 1 knot in the skein. This is becoming my new favorite yarn. Hope it's not discontinued and that they add more colors.

Found it difficult to use. Slippery and quite slick, very difficult to maintain even tension on straight single points at recommended size. Size 8 was sloppy and irregular; size 7 achieved 4.5 sts to inch, but still rather sloppy. My only resolution was to knit circularly using SIZE 6 wood tip needle to help control tension and achieve a more balanced fabric swatch with a gauge of about 5 sts and 6 rows to the inch. Highly recommend using smaller needles than size 8 recommended to achieve a better hand in the fabric.

    Comments about Valley Yarns Goshen:

Not only is this simply the best yarn I've used in years but it is the most responsibly priced. When I recommend it to friends they simply don't believe me and have to look it up right away! I can't tell you how many colors I have purchased and I have never been disappointed. I actually broke my rule for 2014 and bought yarn to add to my stash. It was worth it!!!

Made a summer tank, and then a lovely brioche cable scarf with the leftover yarn. Has a lovely sheen to it. It tends to be a bit splitty so you do need to pay attention when you're working brioche with this yarn.

I purchased this yarn during the anniversary sale to make a tunic sweater with cable detailing, and I'm very pleased with it. It knits up fast, has good stitch definition, and drapes beautifully. Highly recommend this yarn!

Crocheted a light weight cardigan with this yarn. It was nice to work with, soft and smooth. I haven't worked with this cotton/silk blend before so I don't know if this is typical for this type of yarn but it unraveled a lot which made hiding the ends difficult. Would use again anyway.

The blue is soft and easy to work with. The white has a nice glisten to it. The red is not a true red but more a cranberry. Is not as soft and has no glisten.

              Comments about Valley Yarns Goshen:

I'm just now starting to get into the world of cottons, and for the most part I HATE it. Cottons are scratchy, dense, and have all the give of steel rebar.

Thankfully, Goshen is a different cup of tea. It's a smooth, almost silky texture, lightweight, with a beautiful subtle sheen (I got natural, so I can't speak for the other colors). It has a bit of a give when you work it with medium tension due to the way it's spun, but it doesn't stretch out either.

All in all, I love it!
