Comments about Valley Yarns 60/2 Silk:

Used for long, narrow scarves, 48 epi, in a satin weave. It literally floats on the air and feels wonderfully, well, silky. No other fiber successfully mimics the featherweight or feel. But woven silk fibers move easily if pushed against something, distorting the weave pattern, possibly a drawback for long scarves that may be pressed against a belt buckle or the like. I still think this is the most wonderful fabric I have ever woven.

Comments about Valley Yarns 60/2 Silk:

Silk is my favorite fiber and further more fine silk. This 60/2 silk is tightly spun and smooth, but with all fine silks it does pile some when dressing the loom. I work with a 30 dent reed and often double or triple up my threads per dent, causing some piling and twisting of the treads. If you want to work with this fine thread make sure you have a few yards of weaving time under you it isn't a novice thread at this weight.
I particularly love the variety of colors offered with this silk, customer dying large quantities of fine silk at home can be time consuming. That said if you do choose to dye this silk yourself it takes wonderfully to fiber reactive dyes and also to indigo vat dye.
And as always all silk has a beautiful drape, sheen, and soft feel after being woven and washed. I'm never disappointed with a weave structure from this fiber!

Comments about Valley Yarns 60/2 Silk:

I bought this yarn to wind onto sewing bobbins and use as embroidery thread in my sewing machine. It stitches beautifully. I use free motion embroidery techniques and no snags or thread breakage. I am using the yarn both as the top and bottom thread. The finished effect of the embroidery is soft and luxurious. I have used it as a white thread and dyed it for specific colours, it dyes so well!

          Service and delivery comments:

It arrived really quickly to Canada. I needed questions answered as to whether it was the right thread for my project the customer service got straight back to me to answer all my questions.

I like to knit very loosely with the 60/2 silk to create a shape for nuno felting. I also like to sew with it--as bobbin thread.

Comments about Valley Yarns 60/2 Silk:

This is TINY yarn. It would be great to weave with, but I found it just as enjoyable to knit with, either plied on the fly and held triple, or as a very patient single. It has a great hand to it as a fabric, with all the strength, sheen, and smoothness that silk always offers. The color is even and having 12K continuous yards leaves the imagination to wander at the options. It is a slick yarn, so some attention must be paid while on the needle, but that is to be expected with silk. A great value for the yardage, specially when you can catch it on sale :)

This wraps at 72 wpi, so for plain weave, I find 36 epi to actually be perfect the way I beat. This is one of my favorite yarns - I just wish silk was less expensive.

First silk I have woven with. Was nervous because it is so fine, but turned out great! I spent a lot of time untangling while warping the loom. Yarn is pretty strong.
