Love, Love, LOVE this yarn. The price is right and the sheen is amazing! I've used this yarn for literally hundreds of projects. The only thing is that the website says the sett is 12-18, but it's really 20 if you're looking for a tight weave. So keep that in mind when planning your warp length!I always use a 10 dent reed with this yarn.

I was commissioned to make a washable rug and the buyer purchased a color card as she was particular about matching her decor. The yarn did NOT match the color card and was returned (I hope she did not have to pay the extra shipping). The replacement color had several knots in the cone and after weaving there was a warp thread standing out like a sore thumb. By using a magnifying glass I found there was no threading error nor was that thread under different tension. That thread and the one next to it were of a completly different size (or perhaps the twist was off). This was easy to see when the piece was removed from the loom and all the warp threads hung free from the loom waste. Valley Yarns is getting a bad reputation for quality but I guess you get what you pay for.

I use Valley Yarn pearl cotton for table runners, place mats, and dish towels. I weave on both a 4-heddle Baby Wolf loom and a ridgid heddle loom. This yarn has such a nice sheen.

Comments about Valley Yarns Valley Cotton 5/2:

Weaves into a nice baby blanket, soft and not too heavy. Same for hand towels. I used a multitude of weaving patterns from plain weave to bulkier waffle weave and it works well with everything. I set it at 24 epi.

Comments about Valley Yarns Valley Cotton 5/2:

The cone was difficult to unwind evenly, it would snag and flip over while trying to wind a warp. There were a few weak spots as well where the yarn would just break. I don't think I'll buy this yarn again.

I like the quality, though I thought the spin would be a bit tighter. It does not affect the quality of my project, a crocheted tunic, which I have not yet finished. It does not snarl or tangle easily, which is great because I had to unravel and redo rows several times so far.
