Sixty Scarves for 60 Years

The Weavers Guild of Greater Baltimore is thrilled to announce the celebration of our 60th Anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, we have published a beautiful design collection book, Sixty Scarves for 60 Years. This spiral bound edition contains full page, color photographs, fabric detail photos and instructions for 60 scarves contributed by our members, many of whom you will recognize. Virginia West, Tom Knisely, Janet Stollnitz, Diane Kelly and Georgia Groomes are among the 41 weavers who collaborated on this project. Drafts range from 2-24 shafts, including an inkle and triangular loom design. There are scarves woven with handspun yarns, painted warps and popular knitting yarns, as well as those that employ a variety of differential shrinkage techniques. This collection represents a myriad of tastes as varied as the weavers themselves.  spiral bound, 131 pages

  • Great photography

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Creative ideas
    • Patterns for scarves

Comments about Sixty Scarves for 60 Years:

Within two weeks I had made two scarves based on these patterns, which will sell for far more than the cost of the book. A beautiful guide, sparks all kinds of possibilities. It does give yarn, but not the amount you will need to weave scarves. Some patterns are beyond 8 harness, and if you have only four harness, it may not be worth it. Most are 8 harness.

It's a very nice weaving book- all the scarves are in color and they show a close up of each one so yu can see the tightness of the weave.

Nice book but could be better

Comments about Sixty Scarves for 60 Years:

The book is in color which is great and they have a little close up to show the weave tightness. Good directions and I think they did a nice job mixing it between 4-24 harnesses but I won't buy it if you only have a 4. I have an 8 so I am able to do most of the patterns. My only complaint is that I wish they had pictures of the yarn before it was woven (hand dyed silk description doesn't really help me) and a chart of the yarn sizes in the back for a cheat sheet.
