Valley Yarns 414 Valley Cowl

View pattern kit.

This luscious, lacy cowl is crocheted infinity or moebius style, beginning with a center strip and worked seamlessly in continuous figure 8’s. Worn as a shoulder wrap or double-twisted around the head as a hood, the Valley Cowl is a lovely, practical and quick-to-crochet gift.

The sample is crocheted in Valley Yarns Deerfield, a soft, lustrous DK blend of alpaca and silk. This construction also works wonderfully with many of your favorite Valley Yarns, including multicolored dyed yarns. For suggestions and adjustments needed for substituting yarns, see the tips following this pattern. If you're new to infinity or moebius style designs, check out the super helpful Foundation Double Crochet Infinity Style tutorial from Doris Chan.

Beautiful and Versatile shawl/scarf

By Yoon

from POrtland, OR

Pros

  • Versatile

Cons

  • Size Suggested too small

Best Uses

  • Shawl

Comments about Valley Yarns 414 Valley Cowl:

It was fun to make this. I love the design and how versatile it is.
The gauge and sizing suggested for the yarn I used wasn't correct. 45" to begin with is WAY TOO SMALL. I went with the suggested hook size and follow the stitch count(168) even though the length was close to 65", and it came out exactly as the picture. I'm very happy with the result.

Comments about Valley Yarns 414 Valley Cowl:

I crocheted this as a gift. I loved that it gave several different yarn options and I found one in the list that worked best for my purposes. I found the sizing suggested seemed on the small side but it was fairly easy to increase the sizing since tips for that were provided.
