One long, circular needle is needed, at least 32 inches long, I used a knit picks 2mm 47 inch cable! I love it! You can make socks, cuffs, sleeves, baby booties, gloves (fingers are a dream to work with...no more DPN nightmares for me!) No little "ladders" Between the needles.
No real down side, there is a learning curve, but it is slight, however I will probably have no use for my DPN's now.
