Berkshire Bulky
Candle Flame Cowl
Free Pattern availble at About.com.
The Candle Flame Cowl is a great project for cold weather. It's like a statement necklace made out of yarn -- something everyone is sure to notice when you wear it. But unlike a chunky necklace, this cowl will keep you warm as it turns heads.
The lace pattern requires attention but it's not difficult, particularly after you've worked through the repeat once. And the bulky yarn makes this project one of the quickest eyelet patterns you'll probably ever work.
Materials:
2 skeins of Valley Yarns Berkshire Bulky
Pair of size 10.5 US (6.5 mm) knitting needles
Gauge: Gauge is not critical, but I got about 18 stitches and 20 rows per 4 inches (4.5 stitches and 5 rows per inch) in pattern.
Size: Finished cowl is variable in width, but about 9" wide, and 30" around.
