This rectangular shawl knit in Valley Yarns' sumptuous Deerfield is light enough for cool summer evenings, but also warm enough to take the chill off on cold winter days. The trellis and leaf lace pattern is complex enough to keep the attention of advanced lace knitters, but simple enough that an advanced beginner could do it with a little practice.
Finished measurements:
Scarf: 9.5” x 74”
Shawl: 19” x 74”
Materials:
Valley Yarns Deerfield, 109 yards/ball.
Scarf: 5 skeins, Stole: 9 balls
Stitch markers
Size US 6 needles
Gauge: 4 ½ stitches/inch in main pattern after blocking.

I found this pattern very hard. It is beautiful, but the stitch repeat is very long and complicated. I had to abandon it, sadly, after making tons of mistakes. Maybe if I had used the chart - I tend to be a "reader" of the pattern and not follow the chart. If I try it again I will definite try to use the chart.
