Intro to Bead Crochet, Circular Crochet, Finishing & Beyond
Learn the fundamentals of bead crochet in this workshop. You will begin with a Chain-Stitch necklace, a simple project that looks intricate and is a great way to use leftover or small quantities of beads. After this, you will focus solely on circular crochet, covering the technique from start to finish. You will learn different ways of ending your projects, incorporating different design elements, and tips and tricks of the trade.
Skill Level: Beginner
Instructor: Bert and Dana Freed
Date: Saturday, November 21 Time: 10am - 5pm
Materials Cost: Will depend on bead choice.
Homework/Materials required:
• Size 4 Steel crochet hook
• Bead mat or Workspace
• Scissors
• Darning needle
• A cushion for your chair
For Chain Stitch Necklace: Assorted beads (at least 200 pieces) – this is a great project for leftovers.
Beads should be no smaller than a 6/0 seed bead and no larger than 8mm. Side drilled beads (drops,
daggers, etc.) work well. You can bring in as many or as few varieties as you like. C-Lon Bead Cord in a
coordinating color – you will see a lot of thread in this project.
For Circular Crochet Bracelet: At least 75 4mm crystals in 4 contrasting colors – if your colors are too
similar, you will not be able to use them. The more contrast, the better. C-Lon Bead Cord in a
coordinating or contrasting color, preferably not black – you will not see as much thread in this project, but
you will learn how your thread choice will affect the final look of the piece. Several Focal Beads with
Large Holes that coordinate with the other beads – you may not use them all, but you will want to have
options once your bracelet is complete.
